Lesson 187
I bless the world because I bless myself. (ACIM, W-187)
You can't forgive others if you haven't forgiven yourself first. You may think you have forgiven them, "no hard feelings" etc., but if you hold yourself captive, you can't set others free. You're still chained to the old world of illusion.
And, you can't love others without loving yourself first. Monique Marvez often talks about the idea of "currency." What I got from her idea is that currency isn't in the money itself, but what it represents: energy and relevance.
Like money, love is energy in that it can make things happen. And love is always relevant: people enjoy receiving it. If money (or a material object) is given to another with love, the love is returned to you. Your delight in seeing the delight of others only produces more love.to give.
Giving is self-love because it makes you feel good.
